Week 6
Ladies,
We are approaching our moratorium break here in November. You all have put in a lot of work throughout our time together and we have noticed the difference in all of you from week 1. We have push, pulled, yelled, laughed and have had so much fun. Your dedication to your own personal growth as athletes has been impressive.
We have asked you to be curious and open to learning. You all have done exactly what we have asked. As we finish out the 1st half of open gym this November, the one thing we ask of you is to not lose the momentum. Keep moving and working even when we aren't together.
The best athletes are the ones that take it upon themselves to always be learning, working and growing. Over the past 6 weeks we have given you all the tools to be successful. Remember that your efforts are never a waste even on your worst day. Remind yourself that all of your work and dedication will pay off.
This week we put you in team defense and put pressure on your hitting. Things to take away from the week are the following.....
As we approach week 7 we are going to continue to put you in situations that you will see during tryouts,so its crucial that you show up ready to go every single day. March will be here before we all know it! So lets make the best of our time together and have some fun!

- Start down stay down
- Check your hand while throwing, where should it be and what should it look like?
- Stay off of your heels, you play the ball and don't let the ball play you
- Stay aggressive at the plate
- Keep your chin on the ball (hitting)
- Level, fluid, and aggressive swing!

What does this look like?
We will be having open gym this week only on Tuesday, October 17th. With fall break being here this week, I will leave it up to you to get one additional day of practice in at home.
What does this look like?
- Swing your bat for 20-30 mins (T work, batting cage, etc)
- Throw and do every days
- Go for a jog and throw a ball for 15 mins
- Have a family member or friend throw you ground balls for 20 mins (pop your feet, weight out front, butt down and work on mechanics)
It is important that we don't lose momentum. Over the past month you ladies have worked extremely hard and have improved quite a bit. Keep up the hard work and it will continue to pay off.
LAST WEEK RECAP:
Last week we continued to work on our hitting and fielding. We are continuing to watch you all grow as athletes and in your skill level. As coaches, we will continue to teach and push you each week to continue that growth.
Now you all are a little more comfortable with each other and with us as coaches. What normally happens during this time is athletes will remain in the same place until they peak again. In order to avoid that we have to remember, movement creates movement. It is crucial that around this time we continue to stay focused and become better.
So what happens when you stop moving?
Your progress goes backwards.
Pretty simple right? In order to prevent these things we all have to make sure that we continue to treat every day as our first day.
STAY FOCUSED
WORK HARD
COMMUNICATE
ASK QUESTIONS
FAIL UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT
HAVE FUN
Remember, you are as great as you want to be every single day. So, make it worth your time and show up ready to go and ready to work.
Let's make it a great week!

Week 3 Recap!
Ladies,
Great work! I have to say your hard work is paying off! We can see a huge difference in your skill level in just 3 weeks. Congratulations, that is a great accomplishment.
We switched a few things up and took a lot of cuts, put some pressure on your fielding skills and attempted to perfect the bunt. Our bunting needs a little work and I am confident we will be bunting pros in no time.
As a reminder we will not be having open gym next Thursday so we will want to make sure that we utilize the time we have together Tuesday and Wednesday. Be ready to hit on Tuesday, and remember what we are focusing on in our hitting.
Hitting areas of focus:
1. Weight balanced
2. A strong level swing
3. Hands through the ball
4. Be aggressive
This week our coaches pushed you and tested your ability to perform under pressure and clutch moments. As we have said over the past 3 weeks, its okay to make mistakes. Its okay to ask questions. Its okay to push yourself. This will result in personal growth and a higher skill level.
Keep up the hard work Lady Eagles!

Open Gym Week 3!
Ladies,
This week's schedule will be as follows:
Week 2 of open gym has come to an end and I have to say I'm really impressed with all of you last week! We have seen great improvements in skill level and it has only been 6 days of open gym thus far. Keep up the hard work and we look forward to seeing you all continue to grow!
October is a big month for us, 21 days to work hard and improve your skill level before holiday break. Make every practice count with the intention to get better every day. No time is ever wasted when we are learning and growing.
As a reminder here are some key components of the week;
1. Make every move count, because it matters. Don't cheat your self when working on drills and mechanics. Open gym is here to help you learn and grow as an athlete and in the sport.
2. Don't be afraid to ask questions, use this time to utilize your coaches and peers. If you are unsure of what you should be doing or if you are doing a drill or exercise correctly, stop what you are doing and make sure you are utilizing the time we have to get better.
3. HUSTLE, HUSTLE, HUSTLE, always do your best because anything less just doesn't feel as good as giving your all.
4. Lots of reps, remember this time of year is meant for a lot of repetitions. What does that mean? Doing the same movements over and over again until you become a pro at it! Make the hard stuff look easy because you have put in the work and dedication to be great.
I look forward to seeing all of you this week!
Make it great,
Coach
