IMPORTANT: Workout Schedule and Guide

Happy Monday everyone!

Workouts will start this week on Wednesday!

Here is the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xrhsmQWS21t3LRtja9a3QDKTqO9KJA_S/view?usp=sharing for the workout log that you will need to PRINT out and fill out weekly. You will be turning in these workout logs on the first day of open gym in January.

I have also attached a workout guide link with pictures. Here is the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HaB0d16zAeXTdY_rt7aVsEPP_w0lWmN7/view?usp=sharing Please make sure you also print this sheet out and look it over. Doing each workout properly is going to be very important during your training time. If you have questions about "how to" properly do these workouts I am happy to answer any questions you might have. Please reply to this email with questions.

Ladies, I am expecting for each of you interested in trying out this season to participate in these workouts and complete your logs. So please reach out to me any time if you need help or have questions. I have started a group instagram chat that the coaches will keep in touch with the group to stay connected and so each of you feel supported.

If you have not purchased your bands you will want to do this no later than today. I have attached the link again below.

Parents, you will see on their workout logs that they will need a parents initials at the end of each week. This is to help them stay accountable since we will not be doing groups this year. I appreciate your help keeping your athlete motivated and moving over the next 2 months. Feel free to join them during their workouts!

Here are my expectations:
  1. Print out the 2 attachments
  2. Plan out the week
  3. Do your best
  4. Ask questions when needed
  5. Have fun!

Each workout is no longer than 30minutes each day. Before starting your workouts, print each page out, review them, ask questions if needed, if not questions are needed then plan to start on Wednesday.

Let's make it the best year in 2021!

MMHS Pre-Season Training Email

Ladies,

With the holiday season approaching, the MMHS softball pre-season training will start shortly. Unfortunately with COVID cases being high we are unable to train until January. In the meantime there will be at home workouts leading up to our in person training in January. I do understand that most of you do not have access to softball nets, balls, and necessary equipment to keep your swings moving during the winter season. So as a solution we will be doing at home workouts to get us ready and keep us moving until we can come together again. Workouts will start the 3rd week of November and I have added some links for the equipment that you will need to get started. I highly recommend getting online and placing your order to give yourself enough time to be prepared to start our training sessions. If you are currently going to the gym, these workouts can be completed that way as well.

Here are the workout bands you will need to get started:

If the lowest band weight at 10lbs is too heavy for you, you can work up to this and I do recommend buying a 5lb resistance band and have added a link below.

If you already have resistance bands at home then you are more than welcome to use what you already have. You are also welcome to shop for your own workout bands if you like. You will need a minimum resistance weight of 10lbs.

Workouts will be sent through this group email alongside a link to a workout log you will need to print off and track your workouts. This workout log will need a parent's final sign off, this is not to make parents babysitters but to encourage athlete accountability. If you do not have an Instagram account I will be sending an email outline of what the schedule, workouts, and expectations will be. I will also be communicating through Instagram to keep everyone informed.

You will be asked to keep your resistance bands on you during the softball season and we will be using them throughout the season.

At this time you will need to complete these workouts individually and not in groups due to the COVID restrictions that we are currently under. I think that if we can stay compliant through our training and season we can keep everyone safe, healthy and keep our season from getting interrupted.

I am extremely hopeful that we will get to have a season this year. Myself and the coaching staff are very excited to get things rolling. Our goal as a coaching staff is to make sure all of the athletes have fun, work hard, and come together as a team to have the best season possible.

Please respond to this email if you have questions regarding the upcoming pre-season training.

Go Eagles!

OPEN GYM GROUP TIMES

Ladies,

Great first week of training last week! We (coaches) felt like we had a great turn out and it was followed by great effort and participation. Week one in the books and now its time to split up the masses. Splitting the groups will allow the coaches to work more one on one with each athlete and help us get to know what the athletes need. Yes, it takes us down from 2 hours to 1 hour each day. So, what does that mean?

1 hour training sessions are very specific and filled with lots and lots of coaching. Here are some expectations for the hour together:

  1. Be on time
  2. Stay focused
  3. Do your best
  4. Ask questions
  5. Hustle no matter what you are doing!
Ladies it is very important to make sure you all show up to these sessions because these are going to be great 1 on 1 opportunities to be seen and helped by coaches in preparation for tryouts.

Here are the designated groups,

5-6:30p, ALL RETURNING PLAYERS FROM 2019 SEASON

  • If you played last year on any team you will be attending this session
  • We will make adjustments based off of what coaches feel is best for your development on whether to leave you in this group or shift you to a different group

6-7:00p, ALL NEW ATHLETES THAT DID NOT PLAY IN 2019 SEASON
  • If you did not play  last year you will be attending this session
  • Which included, all new freshman or any grade level who is interested in making a the team this year and did not play last year
  • We will make adjustments based off of what coaches feel is best for your development on whether to leave you in this group or shift you to a different group

See you all this week!

2020 Season

Parents and Athletes,

Welcome back to the new school year! For those of you who will be new to the MMHS softball program I am looking forward to meeting you during our open gym this year.

Open gym is our pre season training for the season and it is very important for those of you interested in trying out this year to attend.  Pre season training is a great way for the girls to get acclimated to the structures of the program and is a huge confidence builder for the upcoming tryouts which allows the girls to be 10 steps ahead when season begins. So again, I cannot stress enough the importance of attendance and participation during our pre season training, it definitely gives all of the athletes who attend a leg up on those who did not put the work in before season and tryouts.

I have posted the game schedule for this year on Instagram and a full schedule is on our live calendar on the softball website (mmsoftball.blogspot.com).  There is also a running agenda on the left side of the home page of the website for an easy list view of what we have ahead for the pre season and season. Please get acquainted with the calendar, you will notice that you are able to select the month and see times, locations, games, practices, etc. You are also able to export the calendar to your personal calendar, please know updates will not automatically update your personal calendar if you decide to export the schedule.

Parents, I will be holding a pre tryout meeting that will be mandatory for one parent or guardian to attend with their athlete that will be trying out for the 2020 season. This meeting will be held on JANUARY 29th @ 6pm, location TBD. Please stay updated on the website calendar and Instagram (@mm.softball) for all updates.

What is ahead?

  • Open gym, October 2nd, 5-7p @ MMHS Field House
  • Go to the website at mmsoftball.blogspot.com and get familiar with the calendar
  • Stay updated on any and all website posts by following by email by entering your email on the top left of the website page ↴

Parents—

You are welcome to attend and observe tryouts. I ask that you please do not talk to your athlete during this time. If you need to speak to your athlete or ask a question, save those things for after tryouts at 7pm.

Also, we are not having a sophomore team this year. We are not able to get enough games for the girls throughout the season and we will be moving the sophomore team up to JV. Varsity player will no longer be JV/Varsity they will solely be the Varsity team and the JV team will be staffed just as we would staff the sophomore team.

This will give the girls the opportunity to play more games and face better competition throughout the season. This will also keep both teams training together and allow us to be more involved as coaches.

When the teams are finalized, I will be putting together a tournament team.  This team will be traveling to our opening tournament in St George, Utah from March 7th after school and will return March 9th following the tournament. They will stay together as a team in a hotel with coaches as chaperones and will travel to and from games on the bus. All girls will be required to ride the bus to St. George and are able to ride home with family following the tournament. (Parents will need to let me know if they are taking their child with them after the tournament.)

To start the season there are a few yearly fees that are going to be due by March 6th to the finance office.

The fees are:
- $140 participation fee
- $100 St George tournament- only the tournament team will be paying this fee.
(We will also be taking a parent vote during the parent meeting to make sure we are all in support of traveling to
St George for our opening tournament.)
- $60 player pack fee that will be covered by the softball program's fundraising for 2019 season. If your athlete decides to not participate in the fundraising this $60 fee will be due when their player pack arrives.

For the season your athlete will receive in their player pack 3 practice shirts, game socks, game belts, a black crewneck sweatshirt, and a maroon compression shirt. We are also offering a reward and incentive to the team with game day jackets for their participation and hard work during our fundraising.

Your athlete will need the following for season:
  1. Black and White game pants
  2. Black long sleeve compression shirt for game days, their player pack will provide the maroon long sleeve compression shirt
  3. A white helmet
  4. Glove
  5. Bat
  6. Bat bag for practice and game days (this will carry their equipment)
We will cover these items in greater detail during our parent meeting on February 28th @ 6:30 in the team room at Maple Mountain High School.

I am looking forward to working with everyone this season!

Thank you,

Jackie
